Weekly Roundup

After reviewing a week's worth of fast-paced blogging, it appears that most of my writing falls under one of the following categories:
  1. Attempts to unveil and explain the powerful forces affecting our daily lives, such as the hidden motives behind the DJIA Glitch, the secret agenda of Telus, the anti-standards activities of a cabal of ShopSite developers, and a brush with numerological oddity. For now, let's call it conspiracy theories.
  2. Geeking out on Web 2.0 stuff like Shelfari and Second Life (parts 1 and 2).
  3. Showing off. Actually, the whole blog qualifies as showing off, which I'd argue is an artifact of the medium and a desirable one at that. Still, the posts mentioning my résumé and press clips exemplify the category, and I'll even include this post and any other navel-gazing as well.
  4. Pop culture detritus (e.g. the Oscars).
  5. Adventures in dog-walking with a talking dog.
So, where do I go from here?

I have several posts in draft mode as we speak. In fact, each time I get an idea for a post, I write a line or two and save it as a draft, so that I can come back when the idea's properly cooked to spill it out onto the screen.

However, sometimes the thread gets rather tangled. For instance, this post began its life as yet another conspiracy theory. But then, as I started to write, I became concerned that readers would notice that the entire blog was absolutely laden with conspiracy theories. Between the conspiracy theories and the talking dog, people might get the wrong impression about me, counter to the professional impression I'm hoping to present as part of my showing off. As a result, this post is intended to demonstrate that I am entirely self-aware about the degree to which conspiracy theories and talking dogs drive the narrative of a successful blog. Trust me, I'm a professional, I know what I'm doing.

Anyway, as for the conspiracy theory, I'll get to it soon. It's a good one.
